Repair of a reinforced concrete column

  • July 5, 2017

If the reinforced concrete column is partially destroyed, then there is a non -level probability of reducing the strength of the structure, and the entire building risks falling. The bare reinforcement is further aggravated by the problem, which is corroded. In such cases, do not rush to use a solution, simple concrete or plaster for repair. These materials are weak, and do not adversely adhere to the old concrete. They do not solve the problem, but only masks it. Such repairs are made using special compositions and technologies.

Thoroughly examine the column and establish the degree and nature of the damage. Clean it from elements that do not hold firmly, output, making even edges with a depth of at least 10 mm.

Carefully clean the bare areas of the reinforcement from rust and treat them with a protective mixture of Mapefer 1k with a flow rate of 250-500 g/m. p. Moisten the concrete surface thoroughly. Put a waterproof and fairly strong formwork. Leave a hole on top through which pour the mixture for the repair of Mapegrout Hi-Flow with a continuous stream. If necessary, compact with light movements using a reinforcing rod. You can dismantle the formwork after 8-12 hours. For the first two days, the surface must be protected from quickly drying with a film or spraying with water every 3-4 hours. It is best to apply to the surface of curing. When the base is completely dry, apply the protective paint Elastocolor.

If the column is only slightly damaged, perform repairs without formwork using the Mapegrout Thixotropic mixture.

Painting or wallpaper will not give such a feeling of luxury as natural materials. Granorte traffic jam is favorably by environmental friendliness and ease of use. In addition, cork surfaces combine the beauty, grace and effect of “warm walls”.
