The choice of the method of jointing determines the ceremonial appearance of the building. There are different types of joints and each has its own advantages.
Rectangular jointing with deepening. The method requires the use of a flat trowel. In some cases, an iron plate is used, the size of which is equal to the distance between the bricks. With this method, the cement mixture is placed in the joint of the brickwork.
In the cut. The mortar is not deepened, but leveled with the brickwork. The action occurs with the use of flat jointing, which eliminates all irregularities. Work with the tool is smooth, without the use of force.
Concave. The mortar is laid with compaction, this creates increased moisture resistance. For this method, a steel hose or any object of an elongated rounded shape is used.
With two cuts. When creating a V-shaped cut, a tool similar to a corner is used. Such a device can achieve another line in the middle of the seam. This jointing looks interesting and attractive with facing bricks.
Convex. The mortar is laid with a slight compaction, while it should extend beyond the level of the brickwork. The wear resistance of the mortar is less than that of the brick, so the protrusion should not exceed 3 mm.
With one cut. After laying the cement mixture, the mortar is cut 3-4 mm from the wall. Such a seam is used for interior work.
For facade work, to prevent moisture accumulation, it is recommended to choose seams without recesses. It is recommended to carry out jointing and laying together to save time and materials.
