The difference between the putty and the plaster

  • April 12, 2017

One of the necessary stages of repair of any apartment is the putty of walls and ceilings. This process is not complicated, it, having trained a little, can be performed independently on the small areas of the processed surface, where any shortcomings will not affect the general view of the interior.

If the surface is large enough, it is better to contact a specialist with perennial experience, who will quickly and professionally perform this work.

Everyone who started a major overhaul at home or acquired a new apartment, they know that you can glue wallpaper or tiles on the walls without putty, but durability and appearance will be far from ideal. That is why plaster and putty are used in finishing work. The plaster is intended for rough work to correct large flaws during the construction of a house or align the walls in the room in accordance with your wishes. Its thickness may exceed 50 mm.

Putty has a different purpose. It is needed to carry out final work to align the walls and ceilings before pasting the wallpaper or painting. Before use, it is recommended to process the walls in advance with a primer for better adhesion of materials, then, applying a thin layer to plaster, level the surfaces until the desired result is achieved. The final stage is the stripping of dried putty from protrusions. Usually performed with fine sandpaper.
