What kind of screed for the floor to prefer?

  • November 24, 2017

Whatever material for flooring, you prefer, if it is a laminate, parquet, carpet or linoleum, the surface in any case must first be leveled. To date, the screed remains the only way to achieve exemplary evenness for the floor.

Work begins with the removal of old materials. Concrete slab is either perfectly cleaned or primed with special mixtures. The primer is necessary for the best adhesion to the screed. The screed itself consists in covering the slab with a composition, blocked from concrete dry mixtures or with a bulk floor (self -leveling solution).

There is also a method of dry screed, with it, gypsum -containing slabs with waterproofing are laid on the basis. If you prefer to use a concrete mixture, then when preparing a composition into it, it is recommended to introduce adhesive substances. Such a screed is suitable for those who have enough time, since it dries for about 45 days. Only then can the floor be covered with a waterproofing layer and the selected flooring for the floor.

Dragging the bulk floors takes two weeks. The self -leveling solution for good thermal insulation is applied to the polystyrene foam. After it dries, the polymer film is laid on top, and you can lay the material.

For those who do not have this time, a dry screed is recommended. Gypsum -containing plates are laid on dry backfill, and at least the next day you can lay the flooring. The highest quality method is combined. First, the primary screed is made with a concrete composition, and then a self -leveling mixture is applied. In time and finances, this is the most expensive way, but the screed is the most durable.
