In order to paint the ceiling, you first need to prepare its surface. It is necessary to give her smoothness, which can be done using putty and plaster. If the ceiling has significant defects: chips, potholes, cracks, then it is necessary to use the plaster composition because it can be applied with a layer of more than 5 millimeters, and when dried, such a composition does not give shrinkage.
It is much more convenient to use plaster based on gypsum, since from no less dirt and it is applied much easier than plaster on a cement basis. To prepare the plaster, it is necessary to pour about a third of the water into the container, and then pour the dry mixture to the desired density, stiring with a construction mixer. After a couple of minutes, mix the mixture again. The composition is ready. To apply plaster, I use a spatula or kelm. The plaster is applied to the surface with a small spatula, and then smoothed out more. The surface is aligned in several layers. Each drying time is about 2-3 hours. Now it is necessary to make the surface perfectly smooth. Therefore, putting the ceiling for painting is necessary. To do this, it is better to take a dry, not a finished mixture. When choosing a putty, the humidity of the room should be taken into account. To prepare the mixture, a quarter of water is needed and a dry mixture for the desired density. Stir well with a mixer, after 3-5 minutes stir again. Apply the material with spatulas, and then process with sandpaper. We apply a small spatula on a large little putty, then we spread the mixture on the ceiling with a layer of 2 millimeters and align. Drying of one layer lasts about 12 hours. If necessary, you can repeat. After drying, it is necessary to praise the ceiling with sandpaper for complete smoothness.
