Today, in California on Pebable Beach Concours d’Elegance, Bentley Motors for the first time represents a completely new car – Bentley Mulsanne. Mulsanne is an inspired by the highest achievement of the founder of the company W. O. Bentley in 1930, a car with an 8-liter engine. This car, which once belonged to W. O., will be exhibited next to the novelty on the same podium in Pebble Beach. This early masterpiece of the automotive industry is the “last large” Bentley, which was designed, designed and produced from beginning to end by engineers of the Bentley factory. And today, almost 80 years later, showing respect for the famous past, the new Mulsanne is a new statement of luxury in motion. Conceived, stylized and designed completely at the Bentley factory, the Mulsanne car, with its completely new platform, will appear on sale only next year, and production will take place on the basis of the new factory in the hook.
Presenting Bentley Mulsanne to Pebable Beach Dr. Franz-Josef Paefgen, chairman and head of Bentley Motors, said: “The task that we set before our engineers is to create a completely new Bentley car, which will be the top of the British automotive industry and will give with either than on a comparable sensation from luxurious movement. They answered this challenge with true passion, and as a result, we received a luxurious car that sets new comfort standards, ease of management and manufacturing Hand-Made-these are the very qualities that Bentley has always known. “
The group of designers of Bentley, led by Dirk Van Braeckel, created a flagship that is endowed with classic sports and stylistic features, but they are expressed, committed by a new modern way. “Starting to work on the very first sketches in the studio, we were inspired by the traditions of Bentley’s early limousines and sought to develop and write a new page of history for new fans of Bentley brand.”
The return of the name mulsanne to the car, which proudly carries the cult emblem “Winged letter B” emphasizes the company’s racing heritage and does not better reflect this heritage as the famous LE MANS Avtoprome, where Bentley cars won 6 times.
The eight liter car of Bentley, which is exhibited next to Mulsanne in California, was first shown at a car exhibition in London in 1930. It was the second car produced, which was used as service W. O. Bentley for 2 years. The car capable of speeding more than 100 miles per hour, demonstrated not only the ambitions of the founder of the brand, but also the ability to produce a comfortable car, which is subject to bypassing any leading car manufacturer at that time. In total, from 1930 to 1931, 100 such cars were produced.
“The amazing technical characteristics and quality of an 8-liter car were perhaps the most excellent example of the impeccable“ Grand Bentley ”. Each mechanical detail had a unique stamp W. O. Bentley and this was an obvious demonstration of a car created without a compromise, ”commented on Dr. Ulrich Eichhorn, a member of the design council.
