Wall repair: painting or wallpaper

  • June 26, 2017

Planning the overhaul of the apartment and thinking about the question of how best to make wall decoration, we make a choice between wallpaper and painting. Which of these methods is the most profitable and effective? Both wallpaper and wall painting have their advantages and disadvantages. Let’s try to analyze them.

At first glance, the wall painting option is much simpler and more profitable. The paint does not collect dust, the painted walls are very easy to wash. However, the main difficulty here is the leveling of the walls. The paint should be applied to a perfectly aligned surface, because on an unprepared surface, the paint will emphasize any crack, any unevenness and roughness. Surface staining can be done with a roller or compressor. Household compressors, compressor equipment greatly simplify the painting process. Another advantage of paint is that the wall can always be repainted in another color without additional preparation – after all, the walls are already aligned after the first staining.

Now let’s talk about the wallpaper. The wallpaper is different: detergents, paper, environmentally friendly and others. It is unnecessary to talk about the variety of patterns on the wallpaper, you can find wallpaper with different patterns, different color shades individually for the type of room: it does not matter, this is a kitchen, a living room, a bedroom or a hallway.

Leve walls are also important for wallpaper, however, it is not required to align the walls to the perfect state: wallpaper can hide small defects in the wall surface. Unlike paint, they wash are much more difficult, but it is not so easy to pollute them. In material terms, wall decoration with wallpaper or paint will cost almost the same amount.
